996871M41, shortly after arriving to the Didymus System transmissions from the Ravenspire were being received. Astro Militarum was requesting aid in the Collatus Sector. A quick scan by Astropath Sirene Winsong revealed several imperial forces in neighboring systems. Intercepted reports mentioned minor engagements were happening throughout the sector. The largest of the neighboring systems, designated JYLN-55 was battling a re-incursion of Ork threat; which now had consumed vast sections of Sector 7 of system JYLN. The Imperial force was seeking aid to determine the extent of the Ork invasion. Many officers upon hearing this yearned for payback for the losses taken at Kastorel-Novem. Reconnaissance and disruption missions were something Raven Guard excel in. Honour driven Captain Clavian chose this as the primary mission in the Sector.
99687115M41, a new request comes in from the Ravenspire signaled most urgent by Brother Librarian Nabion. The forwarded report was from the Imperial Inquisition. Imperial forces in the sector have succumbed to the foul taint of chaos. Though the corruption is known to the inquisition that has traced it to the Collatus Sector, the exact force tainted by warp is unclear. Priority of the highest level has been placed on observation and report of the neighboring Imperial forces. Reports are to be sent directly to the Inquisitor Kokrand, level most secretus.
Retaliation to the Orks will have to wait. . .
NGC Battle Report I: 200pt Kill Team Mission “Infiltrate the Camp”
Mission Report: E218-Balon-Roe
Mission Status: Complete
Team Status: Injuries-Acceptable, Casualties-None
Mission Background:
The nearest system was JYLN-55. A small force of Adeptus Astartes from the Marines Errant Chapter was assisting an Imperial force there. After clearing the system from government corruption, the Imperial Guard were training and recruiting inhabitants to hold back the green tide that threatened the system. Their main facility was located on the planet known as Yule.
Mission Details: Infiltrate the planet with a small force, observe and report. Unit One: 1st Scout squad, 10th Company, led by Sergeant Balon.
After Action Report:
(Balon)
Strike Cruiser Talons of Corax moved into the system masking its presence by the planetary debris strewn throughout the system. A near gravitational field was created with an asteroid in low orbit around planet Yule. Systems indicated their close proximity orbit had gone undetected.
Scans of the planet’s surface revealed the presence of frequent ash storms at a severity level that diminished visibility to near zero around the hive cities. Sergeant Balon loaded his scout squad along with two Landspeeder Storms onto Thunderhawk Reaper I. The plan was to make a high atmospheric deep strike using the ash storms as cover for the drop. A small pulse charge from the Strike Cruiser would send a nearby asteroid hurdling toward the planet. Reaper I would enter the atmosphere in the tail plume of the asteroid masking its entry, make the drop and return using the upper ash storm waves as cover on its return voyage.
The squad quickly hid the Landspeeder Storms under the cover of the ash cloud near the edge of an abandoned Industrial zone. I then ordered 1st squad to proceed through the Industrial facilities and from there we could determine the best entry point into the hive. Roe reported movement on his optical scanner and I quickly recognized the outline of Space Marine armor in my foreground as well. I ordered the squad to use non-lethal force. Our mission was to observe, not kill. The squad performed as trained, close the gap quickly and subdue the opposition any way possible. The squad fired near shots in hopes to force the Marine Errant to seek cover and thus allowing our squad to sneak through obfuscated in the ash cloud. Under no circumstance was the Marines Errant to be alerted to the presence of the Raven Guard.
The scuffle quickly escalated into an all out firefight. The Marines Errant must have thought us to be members of the local gang. Waine was the first to strike the Space Marines, the shot thumping loudly off the Marines chest sending him to the ground. Roe reported being hit, but was alright. Airie dodged a krak missile by shear will of the Emperor. A lit promethium burst engulfed Solen and Airie, yet again the will of the Emperor favored our actions. The squad quickly engulfed the Space Marines using numbers to our advantage knowing full well it would take several of us to subdue the Space Marine as opposed to killing them. Metal debris blew off the column next to my location from bolter fire, the near miss shots still rendering me unconscious.
(Roe)
Talvus and I charged the nearest Space Marine. Talvus took a gut opening wound and fell. Ceasing the moment I quickly blunted the marine with my combat blade. Airie and Solen rapidly neutralized the Flamethrower toting Space Marine and moved on. Their Sergeant made his presence known, catching Airie off guard and crushing his forearm with his mighty powerfist. Only his armguard prevented him from losing the use of the limb all together.
The use of a missile launcher meant the lethality of the situation was reaching critical mass. I ordered it to be taken down immediately. Clayve and Emos responded and promptly arrested the heavy weapon. This encounter did carryout as predicted as a blunt blade hit charged a fragmentation missile, exploding it in its pack, forcing the back pack power cells to melt down. The anguish in the Space Marines eyes could be seen through his optic lens as the acid melted through his armor and spine. The loss of this fellow Space Marine weighs heavy on our souls, Emperor please forgive us.
Deeken attempts to subdue the Errant Sergeant, but is batted away and knocked unconscious by the power fist. The Marines Errant sergeant then fell back from the engagement. Suhngrave and Waine both fall trying to protect Sergeant Balon.
The firefight was over as quickly as it had begun. We recovered our wounded and expeditiously removed ourselves from the battle scene. A safe recovery point was located and our wounded were tended to.

1st squad has since moved on and an observation outside the hive city has been established. The squad is performing reconnaissance of the perimeter to the hive city under the cover of darkness to locate a point of entry.
Mission Report Concluded.
