Mortarion: Primarch

Mortifer: Lieutenant Commander,
Legion Divisional Breakdown
Great Company: Chapter
Contingent: Batalion
Compound: Company
Each of Mortarions Great companies retained details of ancient Albia from Terra that would maintain the legions trademarks of war. One “Compound” within each Great Company would carry with it the name of one of the rivers surrounding Old Albia. The Name of the 7th Compound, Second Contingent of the 5th Great Company would be known as “Danube” a raging river that serves as a depiction of the unrelenting warriors for which they are born of as members of the Death Guard legion. Other such Compounds would be named for mountains, fields or great cities; scenes that would invoke images that translate to the warriors within each of the different Compounds. These warriors would then be divided based off of their specific strengths and weaknesses in to specific roles within each Great Company creating a balanced fighting force that would be able to deal with any threat.
The Flagship “Pitted Iron” Dominion of Bane Lord TomorKocii (Toe More, Co Chi)of the 5thGreat Companyknown as the “Illyrian”; Lord Kociiand his expedition party of Death Guard veterans ranging from the many resources maintained under his command and primarily brothers of the Danube Compound. These stalwart warriors were sent out ahead of the main force to establish communication and assess the revolt taking place on “Choral City” (Istvaan III).
As the crewof Pitted Ironare about to re-emerge in to real space after being seemingly lost for almost eight months in a warp storm on their way to the Istvaan System in an attempt to contact and retrieve reconnaissance of the situation on Isvaan III.Along the way they Encountered warp storms that would take them wildly off course leading to their Battleship becoming warp wrought with other such vessels, both of their own escort and from vessels lost in the warp.
As the now termed “Lost 5th“ re-emerged from the warp they found themselves on the far eastern side of the galaxy in what seems to be near the imperial sector known as the Collatus Sector in the Ultima Segmentum far on the eastern fringes of imperial space. According to imperial record this system was nearly uninhabited, but as the crew of the Pitted Iron will soon find out it is an area of space now teaming with dangerous Xeno life forms of all kinds.
As the crew Emerge they are brought about by the realization that the once proud vessel of their Company has fused with other vessels from their expedition to become a twisted macabre parody lf its former self.
Immediately the vessel is spotted by the Kill Kruza “EarfKrumpa” and is now under assault from fowl Green Skins giddy with the prospect of untold riches they may find on this majestic imperial construct. As the green skins board the vessel there is little signs of the Astartes that man it, the vessel appears to be of ancient design but the Spartan interior of the vessel is well maintained and rife with plunder. The Orks remiss to think they are alone on this vessel will soon find themselves battling for their lives amongst the wreckage that was once the flagship of the Lost 5th, Great Company Death Guard.
In the beginning the Orks readied their plunder for off-loading to the Kill Kruza. As they continued their work something strange began to happen, the orks one by one began to disappear in to the network of passage ways and off shoots from the main body of the hulk. The Ork Free BootaCaptain Grim Toof who was in charge of the ladswas busy counting the teef he would be awarded and did not notice the shrinking size of his mob. Soon the giant OrkKaptain noticed that of the over 150 boys and Meks that he came with had been reduced to less than 50, 1/3 of their beginning strength and then it happened. As if out of nowhere the boys heard the low growl of something big in the depths of the hulk, they heard the shout of boys, the clattering sound of shootas and the Zip of Rokkit shots from the crude weapons utilized by the Ork’s, then. . . silence.
As the remaining crew went to investigate they came upon a mound of slaughtered Orks piled high down the corridor leading to the heart of the vessel. Once there they found a charnel house of horror, there were skeletons of myriad xeno and humans alike surrounded by pools of ichor, streaks of blood leading to them as if something was being dragged in to the cesspools. The walls of this room were high to the point where the walls disappeared into darkness and the openness of the space left the Orks feeling exposed. With this sight the Orks began to head back to where they entered the vessel, only to find their path closed off by the mounding Ork corpses. At this moment the true carnage began, Tyranid gene stealers had been stalking their every move, in the darkness above the large open space they heard the hissing of something large and right before the Gene Stealers pounced there was a terrifying rumble followed by a screeching roar of the great beast that slew their comrades, the howl was coming from above them and there was nowhere to turn, their fate was to be the same.
Far off in the command center of the Pitted Iron, Bane Lord Kocii and his senior advisors watched the atrocity via pictcapture being routed to them through the ships backup communication array. They saw the Orks doing their work and took note of their quickly dwindling numbers. They soon realized it was more than just Orks and Astartes on this vessel. Although they could not catch sight of the creatures in the dark the veteran Death Guard knew all too well the kind of creatures lurking in the Ghoul Stars Cluster.
As the Orks were being thrashed in the central common area Lord Kocii directed the 14thTactical Squad lead by Magnate Tariq Hykaalong with the Indomitable Contemptor Dreadnaught EdonisMorina and the 21stTactical Support Squad armed with Chem Spray Weapons lead by Toxicant LedionVrioni, they were supposed to go to the hold in which the Orks entered the Hulk and begin to make a counter assault to dislodge the Ork Kill Kruza. Meanwhile Lord Kociitook the fight to the enemy, moving in with the 8th Destroyer Squad armed with Rad Missiles lead by Toxicant SabanLegoreci, His own compliment of Deathshoud (whom of which give up any formal name upon indoctrination in to the Death Shroud) and Grave Warden Terminators Led by Chem Master Toxicant EgzonShala.
As Lord Kocii closed on the location of the Pict Scanner that they had been receiving images from the advancing marines heard the screams and shots of the Orks being slaughtered. When the Bale lord entered the room he was immediately meat by scores of Genestealers that were swiftly dispatched by the ChemWeapons of both his Death Shroud and that of the Grave Warden’s as their alchemical payload proved too much for the small creatures to endure. Grasping for their lives the small Genestealers let out a final howl that would harrow the Gene Mother to their call. As the behemoth of a creature plummeted to the floor where the Astarte’s Lay in wait, the Destroyer Squads let fly with their Rad Missiles quickly scoring a damaging blow to the creature as it was surrounded by a cloud of radiation causing the monster to scream and rampage in horror. As the Destroyer Squad Continued to loose the payload of Rad Missiles, Lord Kocii and his Death shroud moved in with Rad grenades and Melta charges hoping to score a debilitating blow to the beast. As the Monster managed to free itself from the miasmic cloud she hurled herself at the company of Astartes at her feet directing all of its rage toward Bale Lord Kocii, he dodged the wild swings of the beast laying waste to tentacle limbs and thrashing claws in the process, until at last he saw his moment and buried the tip of his Paragon Blade in to the eye socket of the beast until it stopped at the hilt with a hissing of burning flesh and the screech of a vanquished foe.
Now that the Orks were purged from the hold and the Alien threat has been subdued, the crew of the Pitted Iron embarks on their next quest of discovering exactly where and when in time they are.
The crew of the Pitted Iron have re-emerged from the warp to unsuspected warzone of the Damocles Gulf 10,000 years after they first disappeared into a warp storm that has lead them light years and centuries off course. With little knowledge of what came of the Great Crusade.
Who amongst them are aware of the plans that were supposed to have taken place on Istvaan?
Were these marines all selected for extermination, dedicated to the Emperor?
Whom if any have sided with the Warmaster and their Primarch Mortarion?
Or they are marked traitors possibly loyalist, allmarked for death on the fields of Istvaan III and who now will choose to remain with their loyalties of a war 10,000 years in the past?
For now they are brothers; brothers in plight if nothing else. . .
There are signals coming in from all over the imperium and there have been a multitude of requests for the force to rendezvous in the Collatus Sector with something known as an “Inquisitor” to await further instruction in space dock.
All that is left of the survivors space faring fleet are a few Storm Eagle assault Gunships and One Thunderhawk to move what remains of “The Lost 5th”Back in to the imperial fold, what awaits them in the Collatus Sector is surely not going to be friendly and they will be meat with criticism and distrust. . .
